Emergency services descend on north London street after illegal rave at job centre

Emergency services descended on an Islington street after reports of an illegal rave at a job centre.

Police were called to the JobCentre Plus building on Elthorne Road, Archway, on New Year's Eve after reports of an unauthorised event.

Eager crowds of ravers were dispersed and told to leave as police closed the venue and music equipment was seized.

A teenager was injured after he attempted to climb across a roof to get into the rave.

"Police were called to reports of disorder at the scene of an unlicensed music event at a JobCentre Plus building at Elthorne Road, Archway at around 9.30pm," a police statement said.

"A number of police units attended and closed the venue and music equipment was seized.

"A 17-year-old male who attempted to enter the venue through a neighbouring rooftop fell through a skylight and was taken to an east London hospital.

"His injuries are not life threatening."

Police said no arrests were made.
