England cricketer Graeme Swann has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, it was disclosed.

The off-spinner was stopped as he returned to his home in the West Bridgford area of Nottingham on Friday morning, the Daily Mirror reported.

Swann, 31, had reportedly been out celebrating his birthday, which was last week, before he was stopped, the paper said.

Swann, who is currently ranked the second best bowler in the world, has just returned from a successful tour of South Africa and Bangladesh.

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "A 31-year-old man was arrested on Byron Road, West Bridgford, at 3.23am on Friday, 2 April on suspicion of drink-driving."

The right-arm bowler was stopped just yards from a police station and a mile from his home. He was arrested after a breath-test and has since been released on bail.

He told the Mirror he had no comment to make about his arrest.
