Firefighters used a winch and a riot shield to rescue a bull which had got its head stuck in a tree.

Crews from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to save the hapless animal in a field off Barby Road, Rugby shortly before 11am on Monday.

They wielded specialist large animal rescue equipment to free the beast, since named Billy.
