A six-year-old girl who died when she was struck by a car has been named as Lara Ferbades-Pontes by police.

She was hit by a Land Rover Discovery in South Oxhey, Hertfordshire at around 3pm on Sundaym and was taken to hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Hertfordshire Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Sergeant Chris Kent said: "This is a tragic loss of a young life in these circumstances. The family are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.

"The driver and the occupants of the vehicle were unharmed but obviously shaken by what happened.

"At the moment we are investigating the circumstances of the collision and whilst we have spoken to a number of people at the scene, we'd be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened and has not yet spoken to officers."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hertfordshire Police.
