The Government has announced the distribution of £8 million of grants to flood-hit local councils.
The biggest tranche - £2.15 million - goes to Kingston upon Hull City Council, which had claimed it was the "forgotten city" of the floods.
Doncaster Metropolitan District Council receives £1.6 million and three other Yorkshire authorities - East Riding, Wakefield and Sheffield - each receive £600,000.
The £8 million is part of the £10 million package announced by Prime Minister Gordon Brown last week. In all, 34 local authorities receive cash grants.
Other funding, especially to help businesses, has been made available by the Regional Development Agencies, with £2.5 million in the Yorkshire and Humber and East Midlands regions. A further £1 million has been made available to help the West Midlands' tourism economy recover.
The first payments to business have already been made to support immediate recovery needs, said the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Floods recovery minister John Healey said: "I've met residents, businesses and local authorities in the flood-hit communities about the clean up challenges they face.
"I know this money will help but I also know more is needed. Once we receive an updated assessment of the damage from local authorities, more targeted help will follow.
"We worked closely with the local authorities affected, as well as the Local Government Association, to finalise these payments. This demonstrates our shared determination to work together to help life return to normal in the affected areas as quickly as possible.
"Importantly, it means that support can reach those most in need without delay and make a real and practical difference."
