Fresh concerns have been raised for former England football star Paul Gascoigne after a series of messages on Twitter were posted claiming a friend ‘screwed him over’.

The ex-footballer tweeted more than 50 expletive messages ranting about his girlfriend Mandy Thomas and a man called Andy, following a 44-day Twitter silence.

Gascoigne, who has struggled with alcoholism in the past, wrote he was “crying” and said both of them had “screwed him over”.

He also accused the two of “ruining his life” and said his family were “devastated”.

It is unknown what the former Everton and Newcastle player is accusing Ms Thomas and Andy to have done as the tweets are rambling and incoherent.

He began the series of messages yesterday after it appears he tried to visit Ms Thomas at her work in a Post Office branch in Bournemouth.

The apparent Twitter meltdown has sparked concern from friends and fans.

The former footballer recently appeared on BT Sport and said he felt he was on the road to recovering from alcoholism.
