Nadine Coyle has confirmed that Girls Aloud will reunite for a special charity event to raise money in honour of late member Sarah Harding.

Harding passed away last year at the age of 39 from breast cancer.

Coyle said that the star is “very much in the forefront of our minds,” as she and surviving members Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberly Walsh and Nicola Roberts look to reteam at an as yet unspecified date in the future.

“We’re planning a night for an event to raise money in honour of Sarah. She’s very much in the forefront of our minds,” the Irish singer told OK! magazine.

“We want to raise money for a piece of medical equipment that helps diagnose cancer earlier so people can be treated. We definitely want to do something to help others.”

Reflecting on the impact of her passing, she said: “When she became unwell, a lot of my energy became focused on her. There were suddenly so many things happening that were more important than anything else.

“It was a time to be around loved ones and support them. Her passing has just been so devastating.”

Coyle also said that Harding’s death “still affects us [the band] deeply, to think about everything that she went through.”

Girls Aloud were originally put together on TV show Popstars: The Rivals back in 2002.

The BRIT Award-winning girlband scored twenty consecutive top ten singles in the UK, including four number ones with hits such as Sound Of The Underground and I’ll Stand By You.

After selling over 4.3 million singles sales and 4 million albums sold in the UK alone, the group officially disbanded in 2013.
