A family from Cambridgeshire have set a first for Britain by having a second set of twins born on the same date as their older brothers — at odds of about 30 million to one.
Kim Hefer, 29, gave birth to Devon and Logan on July 18, the birthday of her four-year-olds Tristan and Blake.
Mrs Hefer and financial manager husband Freddie, 30, who are both South African, have been told it is the first time in the UK that a pair of naturally conceived twin boys have shared a birthday with their twin brothers.
Mrs Hefer was taken into hospital early when her blood pressure rose and doctors were concerned for her babies’ health. She had been booked for a Caesarean section on July 23 but was told the twins would have to come early.
Logan was born at 11.50pm weighing 5lb 5oz and Devon was born a minute later at a weight of 6lb 3oz.
Mrs Hefer said: “When I found out I was having yet another set of twins at my scan I couldn’t believe it, we were gobsmacked.
“I had said to the doctor ‘will I be home for the boys’ birthday’ and when he said no I never dreamed they would arrive on the same day.
“I thought ‘there are going to be some crazy birthdays in my household’.
“They will all form a nice little rugby or cricket squad in our back garden. My husband is very keen as he is a huge rugby and cricket fan.”
