The Indian festival of Holi has been celebrated by Google Doodle.

Celebrated across India, and in northern India especially, it is also known as the festival of colours

The web giant’s homepage logo today featured brightly coloured figures dancing and playing musical instruments.

The two-day festival sees revellers throw coloured “Holi powder” and celebrates the victory of good over evil.

The first day is marked by 'Holika Dahan' where people light bonfires and gather around to offer their prayers.

On the second day, people throw colour at each other, to mark the end of the dreary, grey winter and the coming of a bright spring.
