Harry Styles’ sent the internet into meltdown with the release of his new song As It Was with many speculating it was about girlfriend Olivia Wilde.

Shortly after the track was released online, “Olivia Wilde” began trending on Twitter.

Fans quickly pored over the lyrics which seemingly point to the Brit singer’s relationship with the American actress and filmmaker.

“Go home, get ahead, light-speed internet / I don’t wanna talk about the way that it was / Leave America, two kids follow her / I don’t wanna talk about who’s doin’ it first,” sings the former One Direction member.

Two theories soon emerged.

One is that Styles is singing about the Ghostbusters: Afterlife star leaving America to spend time with him in London with her two children following her there.

Another is that the child heard at the beginning of the song is one of her children who she shares with ex Jason Sudeikis.

Styles and Wilde first met in 2020 on the set of upcoming psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling.

Whispers of a relationship began to swirl when they were photographed holding hands at Styles’ manager’s wedding in January 2021.

It came two months after she split from fiancé Sudeikis and three months after Styles joined her film.

Wilde and Sudeikis had been together for more than a decade.

A source told Us Weekly: “Harry and Olivia had chemistry almost instantaneously on set. It was only a matter of time before they got together.”

As It Was marks the first song to be taken from the 28-year-old’s highly anticipated third solo album, Harry’s House.

The record is due for release in the UK on May 20.
