The struggle that hay fever sufferers face when the sun comes out has been captured in a hilarious Twitter thread.

Londoners basked in 28C heat on the hottest early May Bank Holiday on record.

But, many people were faced with the irritating effects of the high pollen count that came with the high temperatures.

The Met Office reported that it was "not good news if you're a hay fever sufferer" on Saturday as it anticipated pollen levels ranging from moderate to high as the weather warmed up.

A number of allergy sufferers detailed their ordeals on twitter.

One person, posted a photo of the iconic moment in the film Hitch where Will Smith’s character sufferers an aggressive allergic reaction and wrote: “Brooooooo, what did the government put in the pollen this year?”

Another person said: “Pollen is what Satan uses to season his food..”

Sharing the Met Office’s pollen forecast, Nigel added: “Which is why I've sneezed so hard and so long this morning that I've scared all the wildlife away for ten years.”

A woman named Rose detailed some of the challenges she had faced during the mini heatwave.

“Trying to find shade but I can’t see it because my hay fever has given me an eye infection and I can’t wear my contacts. Blind and burnt,” she wrote.

One person said: “Does anyone know how to cure pollen allergies I have 70 more years on this earth and I can’t do this every year.”

Finally, Brooke Levi Vincent had the following warning: “Hayfever is NO JOKE - absolute karma for the fact I used to brag about not having It!! It can happen to anybody- stay humble kids.”
