Fabrice Muamba is set to be a father for the second time - less than a year after the ex-footballer “died” during an FA Cup match after having a cardiac arrest.

The ex-Bolton midfielder, 24, and his wife Shauna were said to be “elated” about the new baby which is thought to be due in June.

The couple, who got married in October, are understood to have found out just before Christmas and have told their four-year-old son Joshua.

“They would have been thrilled anyway but given what happened to Fabrice last year, they feel even more blessed and lucky,” a friend told The Sun.

“Both were looking forward to 2013 but this makes it more special.”

Muamba, who lives in Cheshire, stunned the world by making a miracle recovery after his heart stopped for 78 minutes after he collapsed 41 minutes into the the FA Cup Quarter Final against Tottenham at White Hart Lane on March 17 in front of millions of horrified football fans.

He has since retired retire from professional football but since then, Muamba, who has had a pacemaker fitted to correct his irregular heartbeat, has run with the Olympic torch and appeared on the Christmas Day special of Strictly Come Dancing.
