This is the “horrifying” moment a pram was smashed to pieces after it rolled down a platform into a moving freight train.
CCTV footage captured the empty pram slowly rolling down the platform at Nuneaton station, in the West Midlands, after getting caught in the slipstream of a passing train.
It had reportedly been left unattended and without its brakes on for a brief period of time.
The dramatic footage shows the pushchair begin rolling towards the freight train before clipping one of its containers.
The buggy and its contents are then pulled apart and flung in multiple directions by the sheer force of the train.
The clip was released by the Rail Safety and Standards Board as a warning to parents about the dangers of leaving buggies unattended on station platforms.
The RSSB’s Lead Human Factors Specialist Paul Leach said: “The best way of keeping you, your children and your belongings safe is to keep hold of your pram, fully applying the brake where possible.
“We know that anyone looking after children will have their hands full and may feel they can’t keep an eye on everything and everyone at once. But the CCTV at Nuneaton shows just how important it is to keep control of a pushchair.”
Nobody was injured during the incident at Nuneaton station at 3pm on July 29.
British Transport Police tweeted: "Horrifying moment a pram was struck by a speeding train. Thankfully the pram was empty, a disaster narrowly avoided. Remember the railway is a dangerous place, always take extra care."
