Iconic Levi's laundrette advert spoofed in north London charity shop

Stripping off: Model Jack Eyers gets down to his boxers in front of manager Cathy Harvey in the advert

The moment a man walks into a small-town laundrette and strips to his underwear makes for one of the most iconic fashion adverts of the 20th century.

But now the notorious Levi's campaign has been spoofed, with the classic background of laundrette in America replaced by a north London charity shop.

In the original, muscular model Nick Kamen attracts longing looks from a pair of blonde women looking on at his toned body.

Disability charity Scope, however, have put their own twist on the advert.

Model Jack Eyers treats stunned volunteers at Scope's West Hampstead store to their own striptease - before revealing his artificial leg.

He said: "In the advert, I play a guy who has taken a sign in a charity shop window appealing for clothes a little bit too literally!

"We need more disabled people included in advertising campaigns and to be more visible in all walks of public life if attitudes towards disability are going to change for the better."

The tongue-in-cheek film was released online ahead of Scope's Great Donate summer stock appeal, which launches tomorrow.

It aims to get people to donate clothes and accessories they no longer need after research showed 94 per cent of women and 89 per cent of men admit to keeping unworn garments in their wardrobes.

Cathy Harvey, who manages the West Hampstead shop where the advert was filmed said: “It was strange the shop being taken over by a film crew and a hunky model for the day but I’m not complaining.

“Money raised by our shops supports thousands of disabled people and their families who need a bit of extra support to get on in life."
