Instagram down in UK and across globe... and everybody's going crazy

Instagram users were left unable to post holiday snaps and photos of plates of food after the site appeared to crash today.

The popular photo website went down at around 1pm UK time, with the site reporting a server error.

Areas affected appear to include the UK, US and Australia.

Thousands of people reported the outages with many taking to Twitter to check if the site was down.

The last large major outage was in October 2017 when both Twitter and Facebook was down in the UK.

According to Down Detector, there were multiple reports of outages across the world. However the site appeared to be back online roughly an hour later.
