A work experience student who found fame after taking over Southern Rail’s Twitter account has admitted he had to deal with “quite a few” trolls.

Eddie, 15, was hailed with “saving the rail firm’s reputation” after winning over fed-up customers with his speedy and hilarious responses.

He first popped up on Southern’s official account yesterday writing: “Hi, Eddie here! Here on Work Experience and ready to answer your questions!"

Twitter users were quick to inundate Eddie with a vast range of questions, from grilling him over Southern’s efficiency record to asking him for dinner advice.

But in an interview with Sky News on Thursday, Eddie admitted he had been targeted by trolls as well.

He said: “It’s quite sad really that they spend their days contacting us and trying to make our jobs harder.

“We do our best to avoid them and help the people that we need to help.”

Eddie also revealed he had been contacted by Birdseye after advising one customer to choose fish fingers over chicken fajitas for their evening dinner.

But when asked by Sky News host Kay Burley what she should have for dinner, he opted for fajitas.
