Katie Piper has told how writing her latest book during the “grim” Covidlockdowns helped her get through them.

The presenter, activist and writer’s latest book, A Little Bit of Faith, is due for release in September. It is a self-help book with 365 affirmations to help people stay positive.

Speaking to the Standard, Piper, 37, said it was “cathartic” and a “great project to have in what has been an unusual year”.

“It was a labour of love. In lockdown one, I was reading out affirmations that I found on Instagram or Pinterest [to her followers]. Because, to be honest, not every day was a good day. And they helped me. We were faking it until we were making it, especially when things got really grim.”

Piper, who suffered an acid attack in 2008, spent lockdown in London with her two daughters and husband. She said she missed her mother Diane the most.

Piper also told of her partnership with picture printing site Photobox, which has launched its #StoriesStartHere campaign.

It encourages people to capture the moment they are reunited with someone they have not seen during the pandemic, and post it online.
