A man has died after being injured in a 50ft fall as he was flying a kite in Bedfordshire

A man has died after being injured in a 50ft fall as he was flying a kite at a beauty spot.

The victim, who was aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead after an air ambulance was called to the scene on Dunstable Downs in Bedfordshire at about 1.25pm on Sunday, police said.

A spokeswoman for East of England Ambulance Service confirmed that the casualty was declared dead at the scene despite the efforts of emergency crews.

The spokeswoman said: "Crews were called at 1.25pm to reports of a man who had fallen 50ft from the air while flying a kite.

"The man suffered multiple traumatic injuries and went into suspected cardiac arrest. East of England Ambulance Service and air ambulance crews tried to save him, but he was sadly pronounced dead on scene."
