Light aircraft crashes near the M1

Air accident investigators have launched an inquiry after a light aircraft came down in a field near the M1.

Police said there were two casualties in the crash close to Hucknall, near Nottingham, at about 1.30pm today.

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "I can confirm that a plane came down clear of the motorway near junction 26 of the M1.

"The police, fire service and ambulance service attended and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch will be investigating this incident."
