A three day strike of more than 2,000 London bus drivers has been called off after a last-minute pay offer.

The drivers, members of Unite employed by Metroline, had been set to strike from Thursday with routes across north and west London set to be affected but will now vote whether to accept the offer.

A previous offer of a 10% pay increase and 9% on back pay was rejected by Unite members and if the new offer is rejected, strikes scheduled for 8, 9, 15 and 16 December could still happen.

Separate strike action involving bus drivers by Abellio in south and west London will still go ahead from Thursday to Saturday.

The cost of living crisis and rising inflation is causing a wave of industrial action across the country.

Ambulance workers in two more unions have just voted to strike over pay, raising the prospect of widespread industrial action before Christmas.

The GMB said 10,000 of its ambulance members backed walkouts across nine trusts in England and Wales.

Unite later announced its NHS members in England, including ambulance staff, paramedics and other NHS workers, had also voted to strike.

Unison reported on Tuesday its NHS members had voted to strike.

Members of the Royal College of Nursing are staging two strikes later in December while other NHS workers including midwives and physiotherapists are voting on industrial action.

Security staff on Eurostar are to strike for four days next month in a dispute over pay, while more rail workers are to strike next month in the long-running dispute over pay, jobs and conditions following the breakdown of talks.

The Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) announced its members will strike and take other forms of industrial action at Network Rail and 12 train operators.
