Man charged with ex-lover's murder

A man accused of murdering his former girlfriend as she walked home from work was appearing at Reading Crown Court on Thursday.

Gulamyr Akhter, 19, of Victoria Way, Reading, is said to have stabbed part-time Laura Ashley shop assistant Asha Muneer to death on an isolated riverside path in Reading, Berkshire.

The body of the 18 year old, a talented A-level student, was found next to the River Kennet by a jogger on the evening of January 18.

She is thought to have left work at the Brunel Retail Park more than two hours previously.
