A man has been charged with assault after an incident on television chat show Trisha, police have said.

Ian Lionel Wallace, 24, of Woodlands Avenue, Maidstone, Kent, was charged with common assault over the incident on February 12.

He was bailed to appear at Maidstone Magistrates' Court on Thursday May 28.

Production of the Trisha Goddard Show ended six weeks ago although episodes are still broadcast on Five on weekdays.

The programme encouraged guests to discuss and attempt to resolve their conflicts and issues with loved ones and was filmed at Maidstone Studios.

Wallace is reported to have appeared in an episode with his girlfriend and a love rival, with the alleged attack taking place off-camera.
