Man in court over MTV star stabbing

12 April 2012

A 42-year-old man has appeared in court charged with wounding after a television show star suffered stab wounds.

Mark Edward Smith, of Dereham, Norfolk, appeared before magistrates in Norwich accused of wounding with intent.

Matthew Pritchard, of Cardiff, one of the stars of the MTV series Dirty Sanchez, had to have several stitches in his neck and chest following the alleged attack outside a shop in Toftwood, Norfolk, on Monday.

The 36-year-old found fame for his painful stunts in the madcap MTV series.

Smith, who wore a navy sweatshirt, was told he would be released on conditional bail.

However, he remains in custody because the Crown Prosecution Service lodged an appeal for his bail to be reconsidered.

Smith is expected to appear before Norwich Crown Court on September 23.
