12 April 2012

A man has been shot dead in an alleyway.

The man, 24, died after the shooting in west Ealing, west London, on Friday night.

Officers were called to the alleyway off Cavendish Avenue at about 9pm.

The man, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they were keeping an open mind regarding motives for the shooting.

Detective Chief Inspector Fiona Mallon from Operation Trident, which investigates black-on-black killings, said: "I urge anyone who witnessed the shooting or anyone who was in the area shortly before or after the shooting to please come forward to police with information.

"Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the Cavendish Avenue area at about 2050 last night?

"Did you see anyone run or drive off at speed from that area shortly before 2100?"

A post-mortem examination will take place at London's Uxbridge Mortuary on Sunday.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or anyone who has any information is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police incident room on 020 8733 4704.
