Meghan Markle’s brother today pleaded for his family to be treated more like the Middletons as he called on his sister to “make amends” with their father.

Thomas Markle Jr said he wished the Royal Family had embraced Meghan’s father Thomas Markle Sr and the rest of the Markle clan in the same way they had welcomed Kate’s family.

He told MailOnline: “They have [brought outsiders in] before in the past like with the Middletons. I don’t see why our family is any different.

“Kensington Palace could have got involved a long time ago – as soon as they announced their engagement. They could have looked after my dad and he would have been happy.”

Thomas Jr compared his family’s treatment to Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith, who has been married four times and has a conviction for domestic assault. He was a guest at Westminster Abbey when Kate married William in 2011.

“It would have been nice to at least get an invite to the wedding like he was,” he said. “I don’t need to be brought into all the events or whatever but it would have been nice to be brought into that.”

He added: “I think just to be recognised as her family would be nice.”

Thomas Jr also urged his half-sister to heal the fractured relationship with their father “before it’s too late”.

Meghan, 37, has been estranged from her half-brother and sister for several years and has not spoken to her father Thomas Sr since the day after her wedding on May 19. He did not attend amid rumours of health problems.

Thomas Jr added: “It’s a shame where it’s ended up, especially between her and my father.

“She’s capable of doing anything, she’s just got to want to do it. If she wants to make amends, by all means, she can do that. But she’s got to want to do it.”

His comments came as the Duchess of Sussex was due to arrive in California to meet her mother Doria Ragland, but is unlikely to visit any other family members during the US trip.

Thomas Sr has repeatedly spoken out about his perceived ill treatment by the royals and has claimed “they would be better off if I died”.
