Nadine Dorries landed at Heathrow from the Australian jungle this afternoon ready for a showdown with the Tory chiefs who suspended her from the party.

Ms Dorries, MP for Mid-Bedfordshire, said she would return to Parliament tomorrow following her appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

She was suspended by the Tory Party amid claims that she had not told Conservative bosses that she was leaving Parliament to appear on the programme. Ms Dorries said that she now “fully expects” the suspension to be lifted, adding that she would be speaking to the new Chief Whip Sir George Young. She was voted off the ITV programme after just 12 days in the jungle and faces possible de-selection by the Mid-Beds Conservative Association.

The association’s deputy chairman Budge Wells has said Ms Dorries would be given the chance to put her case when she returned.

When asked what she would tell her constituents, the MP said today: “I’ve only taken three parliamentary days off. What they’ve read is just not true.” She has missed about two weeks in Parliament.
