One dead in light plane crash

One person died and a second was injured when a light aircraft they were travelling in crashed into a farm field, emergency services said.

A member of the public reported the aircraft coming down on land in Fridd Lane, Bethersden, near Ashford, Kent.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said one person was confirmed dead and a second escaped serious injury.

She said: "The aircraft came down into a field and no other people or property were involved in the incident."

No other details regarding the two people were available.

Emergency services remain at the scene and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been informed, the police spokeswoman added.
