A bakery delivery van came out on top following a collision with a luxury sports car in the middle of a busy main road.
The Porsche Cayman, worth about £45,000, was crushed under the Mercedes sprinter van, belonging to local deli firm Barbakan.
Driver Ste Twist was about 50 metres behind the collision as he travelled through Manchester city centre on the way to work.
“It was just a shock to see such a thing,” he told the Standard. “It was about 8am and there was a lot of traffic as you would expect.
“I didn’t see the exact point of impact but I heard a big bang and then I’m looking at a van on top of the car. It also hit the back of a taxi.
“Nobody seemed in a lot of pain or trouble, but I was mainly in shock – you don't expect this sort of thing.
“From what I'm aware the injuries aren’t serious, which I'm very surprised about – I honestly thought somebody could have been killed or at the very least injured.”
It happened in Fairfield Street, near Piccadilly station, just after 8am.
One of the drivers was taken to hospital with minor back injuries but neither party was badly hurt.
In a statement on Facebook, the deli alleged the Porsche had collided with the back of the van, which had “flipped into the air and landed on top of the Porsche”.
A spokeswoman claimed the van had been stationary.
“Thank you for your well wishes for our driver,” she added, “who remains in hospital but luckily has no broken bones.”
