These are the sensational pictures which prove the owl and the pussycat are now an item.

The brazen pair were spotted cosying up together at Linton Zoo.

Arnie, the attraction's pet, cosied up to owl chick Huwi - on a beautiful pea green lawn.

The two-month-old Turkmenian Eagle Owlet was having its picture taken by proud carers at the Cambridgeshire zoo, only to have the ginger cat cosy up to it on camera.

Zoo authorities said the relationship might not last long however.

Owner Kim Simmons said: "They are not lifetime buddies - Arnie is just a very nosey cat and walked in our shoot, as he often does!

"He is one of our zoo cats and is better known for his friendships with lion cubs, which we hand-rear.

"He just can't resist a cub or kitten and loves having a cuddle.

Linton Zoo, Cambridgeshire's Wildlife Breeding Centre, is dedicated to the conservation of species through captive breeding programmes and support for field projects around the world.
