Prince Harry hits phones for ICAP charity trading day

Prince Harry hit the phones in the City this morning as he took part in a charity trading day.

The Prince visited ICAP for its annual global charity day which is raising money from 60 offices across the world.

Joining brokers on the trading floor, he was helping the firm raise money for a number of causes, including Sentebale, a charity of which Harry is patron.

A dozen UK charities, including the London Air Ambulance, are set to benefit this year as celebrities including newsreader Jon Snow, Downtown Abbey’s Samantha Bond, Simon Cowell and Rio Ferdinand.

Mr Snow, smartly dressed in a blue suit, resisted the urge to dress as his namesake from the HBO hit Game of Thrones. He had raised almost £50,000 for charity during his time on the broking floor.

He said: “I could’ve dressed like Id stepped out of Game of Thrones because they kept saying ‘I know nothing’. Especially when I was doing trades.

‘The charity day is a lot of fun but the most important thing is the funds raised through ICAP makes a fantastic difference and raises significant sums.

‘I did six trades and I think we are in the £40,000-50,000 range.’

Prince Harry landed in London after reportedly taking a 1,700-mile detour after the end of his tour of the Caribbean to spend time with his girlfriend, actress Meghan Markle, in Toronto.

The ICAP charity day was launched in 1993 and has raised more than £127million with brokers working for free, with each broking desk picking their own fancy dress theme including Top Gun, golfers and pirates while screaming trades down the phones.

All the money raised will be given to charities.
