The Duke of Edinburgh chats to the Queen at Royal Windsor Horse Show — his first public appearance since leaving hospital following his hip replacement.

Casually dressed and sitting at the wheel of a 4x4, his appearance today is likely to be seen as confirmation he has recovered enough to attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on Saturday next week.

As preparations for the big day were stepped up, it emerged that drones will be banned from flying over Windsor Castle and the royal carriage route on the wedding weekend.

Thames Valley Police urged the tens of thousands of well-wishers expected to line the route to help them enforce the no-fly-zone.

The Restriction of Flying Regulation agreed by the Civil Aviation Authority will bar aircraft from being flown below 2,500ft around Windsor Castle.

It will not affect commercial Heathrow flights.

A source at the castle said: “The Queen agreed to it. They are a nuisance and intrusive and police are asking local people to report a drone. There will be more than enough cameras without these unauthorised eyes in the sky.”
