Prince Harry plans to "celebrate" his late mother Diana's memory at the Royal wedding by giving her three siblings prominent roles in the ceremony.

Earl Spencer, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes and their families are expected to be among the 600 guests at their nephew’s nuptials to Meghan Markle on May 19.

Diana’s elder sister Lady Jane has been asked to give a reading at the wedding in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

In an official statement, a Kensington Palace spokesman said: “In addition to having the support of The Queen, his father The Prince of Wales, and his brother Prince William as Best Man, Prince Harry is also keen to involve his mother's family in his wedding.

“Prince Harry and Ms Markle both feel honoured that Lady Jane will be representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late Princess on the wedding day,” it added.

Prince Harry had Diana in mind from the start by including two diamonds from her collection for Ms Markle’s bespoke engagement ring, thought to be worth up to £200,000, along with a stone from Botswana.

Former butler William French predicted how Harry would remember his late mother on his big day in the ITV documentary Prince Harry’s Story, shown earlier this week.

He said: “He'll take one look up, I can guarantee. He'll look up and say, 'I've done it mum', and she'll be so proud... of him. That's what's so special.”

Ms Markle will ride in a car with her mother, Doria Ragland, and meet her father at the chapel before he walks her down the aisle.

The Palace said it was “very important her parents both play a key role in the wedding”. The announcement came despite claims from Mr Markle’s son, Thomas Markle Jnr — who is Meghan’s half-brother — that their father had not been invited.

He branded Ms Markle, 36, a “jaded, shallow, conceited woman” and warned Prince Harry not to marry her, calling it “the biggest mistake in royal wedding history”.
