The Queen’s funeral is taking place on Monday, September 19, with the service due to begin at 11 am.

Thousands of people will be in attendance at Westminster Abbey, while millions more will watch from around the world.

Mourners can pay their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II by taking part in a two-minute silence.

Official government buildings will observe the silence, and any businesses that remain open today will likely take part.

Find out below what time the two-minute silence for the Queen is.

When is the two-minute silence?

The two-minute silence will take place at the end of the state funeral service, which is expected to be at 11.55 am.

At this time, people who choose to observe the silence will remain quiet, taking the time to remember the Queen and reflect on her life.

The Government said in a statement: “To pay our respects to Her Majesty The Queen, this silence will be observed in all UK Government buildings. Devolved administrations will issue instructions in their estates and others, as necessary.

“Local authorities, businesses, organisations and individuals may choose to join us in observing this silence.”

More than 100 Heathrow Airport flights have been cancelled around noon to ensure that the skies are quiet for the two-minute silence.

This two-minute silence follows a one-minute silence that took place at 8 pm on Sunday, September 18, as a national moment of reflection.

The one-minute silence followed a service of reflection that took place at 7.30 pm, at the Kelpies sculptures, near Falkirk, Scotland.

During the service, 96 lanterns representing each year of the Queen’s life, were lowered into a pool at the foot of the Queen Elizabeth II Canal.
