The Duke of Sussex was today so ecstatic about his new baby boy that he even thanked a pair of horses.

At Windsor Castle, Harry had given a short statement to a handful of reporters confirming the birth.

At the end of the 90-second speech, he said he was "over the moon" and told the reporters: "Thank you very much, guys."

And as Harry made his exit, he purposefully turned towards the horses in the stables and added: "Thanks, guys!"

The internet was immediately in hysterics.

Alyssa Gold tweeted: "Prince Harry thanking the horses behind him at the end of the video tells you everything you need to know about how much sleep he got last night." The baby was born just before 5.30am.

Mary Lunde insisted: "Prince Harry thanking the horses is the only reason I still log into Twitter."

And another user pointed out: "The horse to the right was definitely excited by the news, he was nodding his head in agreement as if you knew exactly what Prince Harry was talking about."

Harry had told the reporters of the birth: "How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension.

"We're both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there."
