The Duchess of York has spoken of her pride following the wedding of her daughter Princess Beatrice.

Beatrice married property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozziafter during an intimate private ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor on Friday.

In photos unveiled by Buckingham Palace, the newlyweds were all smiles as they left the church through a door decked in flowers.

Sarah Ferguson tweeted on Tuesday: “Thank you to all the special&kind people that took the time to send amazingly caring&supportive messages.

“Never has a mother been more proud than the wedding of Eugenie and Jack&again with my Beatrice’s loving wedding to Dear Edo. I am so lucky with my girls & the best sons-in-law."

She accompanied the tweet with a picture of a quote, which read: “Happiness cannot be travelled to, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”

The 31-year-old was walked down the aisle by her father, the Duke of York, and the Queen and Prince Phillip posed proudly with their granddaughter on her low-key wedding day.

Princess Beatrice wore a vintage Peau De Soie taffeta dress in shades of ivory by Norman Hartnell, which was on loan from her grandmother and trimmed with Duchess satin and encrusted with diamante

The dress was remodelled and fitted by the Queen’s senior dresser Angela Kelly and designer Stewart Parvin, Buckingham Palace said.

It appears to be a modified version of the dress the Queen wore to the world premier of Lawrence Of Arabia at the Odeon Leicester Square in December 1962.

Beatrice also donned the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, also on loan from the Queen, who wore it on her own wedding day.

Beatrice’s ring was designed by Shaun Leane and Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s ring was a vintage gold band designed by Josh Collins.

The Queen described the private family occasion, attended by the Duke of Edinburgh, the couple’s parents and their siblings, as “very nice”.

In an unusual move, the wedding was not announced in advance, the ceremony was held in private and pictures of the event were not immediately released.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “The couple decided to hold a small private ceremony with their parents and siblings following the postponement of their wedding in May.

“Working within Government guidelines, the service was in keeping with the unique circumstances while enabling them to celebrate their wedding with their closest family.”
