Search launched for teenage boy last seen in water near Clacton pier

A teenage boy is missing and another was rescued by lifeboat crew after going into the water near Clacton Pier in Essex.

A search for the boy has been launched after he disappeared on Thursday evening, but it has been suspended for the night.

The coastguard was called at about 6.20pm to reports of two boys in difficulty near the pier.

The hunt for the missing boy, whose exact age remains unknown, will continue at first light, the coastguard said.

Medical teams treated the boy who was rescued at the scene.

Essex Police said the search for the missing boy was "ongoing".
