Security alert on board easyJet flight from Belfast Airport

A security alert took place at Belfast International Airport on a flight bound for Edinburgh, according to reports.

Emergency services including paramedics arrived at the scene at 9am.

An additional security check occurred onboard an easyJet flight on Thursday, the Belfast Telegraph reported.

Emergency vehicles were seen to surround the plane with police dogs boarding the aircraft for a search.

A spokesperson for easyJet confirmed that flight EZY481 from Belfast International to Edinburgh was delayed on departure due to “additional security checks by the airport authorities, as a precaution only”.

“The safety and security of its passengers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority and we would like to thank passengers for their understanding.”

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service stated it was called to assist with an incident at 8.34am but no action was required.

The flight has since departed without issue.
