Simon Cowell is more famous than God, according to a survey of under-10s.

The X Factor judge topped the poll after more than 1,000 children were asked who was the most famous person in the world.

The Queen came in second, with God in third place.

There was more good news for the music mogul with The X Factor also named in the top 10 best things in the world.

The reality show came seventh in that poll, well behind friends and family which took top spot.

Being happy and being famous were named as the second and third best things followed by being healthy and being rich.

More than 1,400 children across the UK took part in the poll, which was organised by Luton First, an organisation set up to promote the Bedfordshire town.

Patricia Murchie, from Luton First, said: "This is the first year that friends and family have topped the best things in the world list, which often features being rich and famous, although wealth and fame are still in the top five."
