BBC News presenter Simon McCoy, who is known for his amusing lacklustre coverage of the British monarchy, will be covering the royal wedding this weekend.

The newsreader tweeted a picture earlier on Thursday showing his view of Windsor Castle with the caption "home for the next two days."

Mr McCoy is known for his hilariously unenthusiastic reports of the Royals and in particular, coverage of their newborns.

In response, a woman named Jennifer tweeted: "SIMON MCCOY IS IN WINDSOR KLAXON."

After posting the image, one of his followers asked: "This some kind of disciplinary thing or boss just got a sense of humour?..."

To which Mr McCoy replied: "My boss has a fantastic sense of humour."

His previous TV hits include a news broadcast in which he failed to summon any enthusiasm when announcing the due date of the third royal baby.

At the time he said: "Now, bearing in mind that they announced that she was pregnant back in September and it was thought that she was around two or three months pregnant, I’m not sure how much news this really is.

"But anyway it’s April so clear your diaries, get the time booked off because that’s what I’m doing.”

He also made headlines with his "honest" reporting on the arrival of Prince George.

Mr McCoy told viewers: "Plenty more to come from here of course, none of it news, of course because that will come from the Palace.

"But that won't stop us, we'll see you later."

The presenter also proved popular when he failed to hide his disdain when reporting on the World Dog Surfing Championships last August.

Having reeled off a report alongside images of surfing dogs in a noticeably flat tone, the camera cut back to Mr McCoy in the studio as he sarcastically said: “That’s a shame; we’ve run out of pictures.”
