Tory MP plans civil partnership

Tory frontbencher Alan Duncan is to become the first Conservative MP to enter a civil partnership.

The shadow business secretary and James Dunseath, a press officer in the City, announced their "commitment" to the partnership on the Court and Social page of the Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Mr Duncan, who was the first Tory MP to "come out" as homosexual, told the paper: "What James and I are entering into is not a marriage, it is a civil partnership.

"You could not find two more conventional people to enter into a civil partnership."

Tory leader David Cameron was said to be hoping to attend the ceremony which will be held at Marylebone register office in central London in the summer.
