An “amazing” mother-of-three died with Covid-19 just three months into her dream job working for the NHS.

Rachel Trott, 36, had joined the health service as a health care assistant, following in the footsteps of her grandfather who was a paramedic and her aunt who is a district nurse.

She had been working at the Channel Day Surgery at William Harvey hospital in Ashford which is run by the East Kent Hospitals University Trust. Ms Trott died at her mother’s house on New Year’s Eve and had tested positive for coronavirus

She lived in Ashford and leaves three children Charlie, nine, Lily, six, and Willow, 20 months.

Her partner Finbarr Carmody said: “She had always wanted to work for the NHS. It was in her family; her grandad was a paramedic and her aunt is a district nurse. She soaked it all in and she made friends there very quickly.

“Rachel was an amazing person, who would do anything for anyone and always put other people first. She had so many friends and I have been overwhelmed by the support from everyone who loved her.”

The family added: “Rachel had found her vocation. We saw a small flame developing, and if God had allowed we are sure she would have been a credit to the NHS.”

Lyn Marshall, Ms Trott’s manager at William Harvey, said: “Rachel had only been with us for a short time but had made an impact on us all.”
