The London Underground driver whose sacking sparked a campaign of industrial action has won his claim of unfair dismissal, it has been revealed.
Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union staged a six-hour walkout at the weekend and are due to take longer strikes next week, hitting tennis fans travelling to Wimbledon.
The union has been pressing for the reinstatement of the driver, Arwyn Thomas, who was sacked after incidents following a previous Tube strike. He claimed his dismissal was linked to his trade union activities.
RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: "London Underground have asked us to wait for the outcome of Arwyn Thomas's employment tribunal and that body has now found that he was unfairly dismissed.
"Throughout this process LU have said that they would abide by the tribunal ruling so all that we are now asking them to do is stick to their word and get Arwyn back to work.
"I am seeking an urgent meeting with the managing director to make the necessary arrangements."
