Tweed to be sentenced for attack

12 April 2012

Jade Goody's husband Jack Tweed is to be sentenced for an assault on a taxi driver.

Tweed, 21, whose reality TV star wife died from cancer last month, was found guilty of attacking Stephen Wilkins in Epping, Essex, last May following a trial at Epping Magistrates' Court last month.

He was warned at the time that he could be jailed for the offence, which he denied.

He was being sentenced at Harlow Magistrates' Court in Essex at a hearing which was brought forward two days from Thursday.

The conviction was the second time in six months that Tweed, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, had been found guilty of assault.

In September, he was given an 18-month jail sentence by a judge at Chelmsford Crown Court after being found guilty of hitting a 16-year-old boy with a golf club. Tweed denied the assault.

He was released from prison on licence in January, having to wear a monitoring tag and observe a curfew.

The curfew was relaxed to allow Tweed to spend his wedding night with mother-of-two Jade in February after a ceremony in Hatfield Heath, Essex.

Former Big Brother contestant Jade, 27, died barely two months later following a well-publicised battle with cancer.

She was buried on Saturday, April 4.
