Dramatic footage has been released of a car crashing at high speed into a college building and narrowly avoiding two pedestrians.
The vehicle crossed a central reservation, collided with railings and then ploughed into the front of Hopwood Hall College in Rochdale on Saturday.
CCTV of the incident captures the grey Mini Cooper S hitting the building just moments before the two passers-by would have entered its path.
The driver, a 21-year-old man, suffered head injuries and was taken to Salford Royal Infirmary for treatment after he lost control of the vehicle in Manchester Road near to the junction of Dane Street.
He is currently being treated in hospital and his condition remains stable, police said.
Greater Manchester Police want to speak to the two witnesses who had the lucky escape and anyone else who saw the crash.
Police Constable Simon McEvoy said: "We are investigating the circumstances leading up to this collision and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to call us as soon as possible.
"We are particularly keen to speak to the two witnesses in the CCTV who were walking on the pavement at the time of the crash and may be able to assist us with the investigation."
