Website to help quake families

Hopes are fading of finding Ann Barnes who is missing since the Haiti earthquake

A website has been set to help people get in touch with family and friends affected by the disaster in Haiti.

The family links site was set up by The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Robert Zimmerman, from the ICRC, said: "The aim of the Family Links website is to accelerate the process of restoring contact between separated family members.

"At this stage, the website allows people in Haiti and abroad to register the names of relatives with whom they want to restore contact. It will incorporate responses to those queries as they become available."

Meanwhile, hopes of finding a British woman missing in Haiti alive were fading after the bodies of her bosses were found among the rubble of the United Nation's headquarters in the disaster-struck capital Port-au-Prince.

Relatives of UN worker Ann Barnes, 59, said they fear the worst as she has been unaccounted for since the earthquake hit Haiti on Tuesday.

The UN said the bodies of Haiti mission chief Hedi Annabi, his deputy Luiz Carlos da Costa and acting UN police commissioner Doug Coates were recovered from the collapsed building.

A Foreign Office spokesman said it was in contact with Ms Barnes' family but had no confirmed reports of British casualties.
