Wire has been found stretched across a cycle path at head height in a "mindless" act capable of causing serious injury, police said.

Pedestrians and cyclists have been warned to take extra care after three separate stretches of wire were discovered in Kesgrave, Suffolk.

The first trap was discovered by a member of the public stretched across Mead Drive at 8.30pm on March 15.

Police found a similar piece of wire on the same path and another one stretched across a footpath in Ropes Drive.

Police Constable Simon Mortimer said: “This is an extremely dangerous and irresponsible thing to do, stretching wire across the paths at head height could cause serious injury to cyclists and pedestrians.

“We are appealing for anyone who has information about this mindless act to contact us to prevent further incidents and someone being injured.”

Anyone with information can call 101 quoting reference WO/15/472 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
