A British teaching assistant and her boyfriend were reportedly kicked off an Emirates flight to Dubai after she complained of having period pains.

Beth Evans, 24, and her partner Josh Moran, 26, said they were asked to leave the the plane at Birmingham Airport just before take-off.

They claimed an air hostess quizzed Miss Evans over her stomach pains after overhearing her complaining to her boyfriend.

Crew members then decided the young woman required medical assistance before flying, the Sun reported.

Medics were unable to attend to Miss Evans immediately, leaving the couple forced to abandon their £400 trip.

Mr Moran told the Sun the situation was “madness”.

He said: “Beth was in tears and getting upset when the hostess was asking her questions.

“It's embarrassing to have to explain about period pains when it's being overheard.”

The couple added that they had to pay an extra £250 to rebook their flights.

A spokesman for Emirates told the newspaper: “The passenger alerted crew that she was suffering from discomfort and pain and mentioned she was feeling unwell.

“The captain made the decision to request medical support and offload Ms Evans so she could access medical assistance.

“We would not have wanted to endanger Ms Evans by delaying medical help had she worsened during the flight.”

The Evening Standard has contacted Emirates Airline for further comment.
