YouTube star Zoella has come under fire after old posts from her Twitter account emerged which mock “fat chavs” and gay people.

A now-deleted tweet reportedly said: "I find it funny when gay men spit… it’s like they’re trying to be a bit macho but never works…"

Other unearthed tweets from 2010, 2011 and 2012 mock “tramps” and “chavs”, Metro reported. These tweets have also since been deleted.

Fans were left reeling by the tweets:

One reads: 'Why are these clothes so expensive' because they’re designer you tramp, that there in your hand is a dress worth over £2000. Haha".

Zoella also appeared to call an X Factor contestant a “fat chav” and recommended the unidentified woman should “keep her legs shut”.

The revelations come as the vlogger faces backlash for designing an advent calendar to be sold at Boots for £50. The price has now been slashed to £25 after online criticism.

Zoella, 26, is a YouTube personality who was crowned the most powerful social media star in Britain this year.

She has over 11 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, aiming her fashion and beauty vlogs at teenage fans.

It has not been confirmed whether Zoella herself posted the tweets. A representative of Zoella has been contacted for comment.
