Angela Merkel made her feelings toward Vladimir Putin clear when the two talked at the G20 Summit in Hamburg.
The German Chancellor appeared to ask Russia's President a question as they walked together during the meeting of global leaders.
But when he responded by shaking his head, Ms Merkel rolled her eyes and gritted her teeth as Mr Putin continued talking.
The internet was awash with speculation the reaction came because Mr Putin was indulging in some "mansplaining".
The pair have not enjoyed a comfortable relationship in the past. At a meeting in 2007, Mr Putin reportedly brought his dog into the room despite Ms Merkel's fear of the animals after being bitten in 1995.
She said after the incident: "I understand why he has to do this—to prove he’s a man.
"He’s afraid of his own weakness. Russia has nothing, no successful politics or economy. All they have is this."
