Archbishop Desmond Tutu: Help to save the elephants

Appeal: bishop Desmond Tutu
20 December 2013

Archbishop Desmond Tutu has praised the Standard for supporting the campaign by our sister papers The Independent, i and Independent on Sunday to save elephants in Africa.

He said: “Today Africa and the world watches as our giants are poached to extinction. We must have a place for the great elephants and rhinos that are our shared heritage.

"I congratulate the Standard for its initiative and encourage your readers to join in the endeavour of making space for our giants. This Earth is the only one we have and it belongs to us all.”
